Clients Request: Our client wanted to shade over the pool so children could play in the pool most of the day with getting burnt. Natureed is already used to line the pergola to provide much needs shade. They asked how they could use the same product over the pool to reduce the sun and the heat as the pergola had done for their home.
Solution: The central coast based client like the idea of a canopy running wires over the pool with a movable Natureed canopy that could be rolled back when not needed.
House of Bamboo suggested a more durable solution. Due to the orientation of the pool and the afternoon was the worst time of the day due to receiving the Western sun. Jennifer Snyders, House of Bamboo CEO suggested using a cantilever system that was fixed and provided shade when needed. The clever design did not obstruct the pool area and provided shade from midday through to the late afternoon, allowing the children to play without getting burnt. It also provided a nice cooling area to relax in the water while still enjoying the summer.
As part of thestewardship plan, House of Bamboo was able to repurpose an existing shade structure from a dismantled project.
Installation: The structure was taken apart, repainted and then transported to the site and installed. Natureed panels were made and inserted to blend with the existing pergola. Installation took 1 day.
The advantage of metals is the ease of recycling, with little or no quality loss during the upcycling. This option has far lower energy consumption when compared to production.
This is a perfect solution for anyone who wants shade in limited space. The shade structure can be angled as desired to follow the suns rays.
