Our story begins
in 1972
What started as a hobby for Mark Snyders in 1972, quickly became a passion project. A true visionary, inspired by sustainability, Snyders saw an opportunity to bring products from small villages in Southeast Asia that would suit the Australian climate. Snyders built and developed relationships with these villages, aiding their development into self-sufficient communities that the House of Bamboo still works with today.
Continuing the Vision: Jennifer Snyders, A Leader in Sustainability
Following her studies in architecture, Jennifer Snyders, Mark’s daughter, saw the untapped potential of bamboo as a transformative resource for the building industry. Joining the business, she propelled House of Bamboo® into an era of innovation, establishing it as a pivotal player in the industry. Today, as CEO, Jennifer continues to expand the boundaries of bamboo’s application, championing the principles of a circular economy and advocating for bamboo as the sustainable timber alternative.
