Pepo Botanical Design: Where Architectural Bamboo Meets Botanical Calm
The project began with an ageing paling fence set above a failing retaining boundary wall. Within an established garden, retained trees, limited access, and changing levels called for a carefully considered response.
The design ambition was to replace the failing boundary condition with a calm, tactile bamboo backdrop that celebrates craftsmanship, texture, and natural materials, creating a serene environment deeply connected to nature.
The design. House of Bamboo brought natural warmth and architectural structure to Pepo Botanic Design’s landscape scheme, pairing clean rendered forms with engineered bamboo texture. In a landmark Sydney residential project, that meant supplying materials with the depth and craftsmanship to sit alongside stone paving, custom outdoor joinery, and lush foliage, not simply filling a gap. That’s the brief House of Bamboo was working on.
The style. Cello 2 engineered bamboo panels, WS-CAP, and structural lumber give the boundary walls and outdoor joinery a refined, hand-crafted quality that reads as considered architecture rather than standard screening. To achieve this standard, the engineered bamboo had to perform as both a structural lining and a design statement, holding its precise profile under close inspection while bridging multi-level changes and framing mature plantings.

Installation support. House of Bamboo’s role went beyond supply. The team consulted on integrating engineered bamboo within a complex, multi-level landscape, provided technical guidance to adapt existing steel posts with engineered bamboo crossrails, and extended the bamboo profile seamlessly across adjoining outdoor BBQ bench doors. By providing structural detailing, dual-sided boundary engineering, and hands-on support in tight working spaces, House of Bamboo achieved the finish a landmark project like this demands.
Pepo Garden Boundary shows what’s possible when a natural material like engineered bamboo is specified with the same rigour as premium stone or custom architectural finishes. It’s a project House of Bamboo is proud to have been part of, and one that reflects the standard we hold ourselves to on every install.
