One Sydney Harbour: rattan at the heart of a Renzo Piano landmark
At One Sydney Harbour in Barangaroo, House of Bamboo supplied and supported the installation of rattan ceiling and wall lining across one of Australia's most prestigious residential developments. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano for Lendlease, with interiors by Daniel Goldberg of State of Craft, the project called for materials that could hold their own next to travertine, bespoke furniture and commissioned Australian artwork. House of Bamboo delivered CW-161 rattan ceiling lining and CW-168 rattan wall lining, working alongside ceiling system partner Supawood to get the finish right.

The design. State of Craft drew on European conservatories for the interior scheme, pairing natural stone with warm timber and woven texture. In one of Sydney's most luxurious residential addresses, that meant sourcing materials with the depth and craftsmanship to sit alongside travertine and bespoke furniture, not simply the shine of a finish. That's the brief House of Bamboo was working on.
The style. CW-161 and CW-168 give the ceilings and walls a hand-woven quality that reads as considered rather than decorative. In a development of this calibre, the rattan had to perform as both a structural lining and a design statement, holding its pattern and finish under close inspection while sitting comfortably beside stone, timber and curated art.

Installation support. House of Bamboo's role went beyond supply. The team, led by design consultant Anna Borella, consulted on how rattan would perform within a controlled interior environment, coordinated closely with Supawood, the builder and the onsite delivery team throughout the install, and provided technical guidance and hands-on support to achieve the finish a landmark project like this demands.
One Sydney Harbour shows what's possible when a natural material like rattan is specified with the same rigour as stone or timber. It's a project House of Bamboo is proud to have been part of, and one that reflects the standard we hold ourselves to on every install.
